JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking to hire a caring individual to be responsible for supervising, preparing and serving the daily meals to residents and guests at Heartland Senior Living.

The Dietary Manager is responsible for overseeing food production, ordering supplies, and authorizing expenditures. They ensure compliance with food safety regulations, manage budgets, supervise staff through recruitment and training, and maintain cleanliness and sanitation standards in food service areas. Additionally, they coordinate special event meals, monitor expenses, and address customer feedback to uphold high-quality dining experiences for elderly residents.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee all food production
  • Order food and supplies
  • Authorize food service expenditures
  • Record meal census daily
  • Maintain bulletin boards and posted information for employees
  • Work with staff to provide food for special events
  • Comply with community property emergency policy and procedures
  • Demonstrate to the regulating authority knowledge of food-borne disease, prevention, application of the hazard analysis critical control point principles and the requirement of the Food Code
  • Demonstrate good emergency decision making, including responding appropriately in emergency or stressful situations
  • Delegate tasks appropriately
  • Aid in planning food service annual operating budget
  • Consistently monitor food service expenses to stay within monthly budget
  • Supervision of food service employees as assigned. Such as recruiting, interviewing, hiring, training, and supervision of all food service employees. Schedule and monitor food service work schedules. Provide ongoing training of food service staff to ensure compliance with safety and sanitation practices. Maintain employee records and files for food service employees.
  • Properly receiving and storing of food service products including but not limited to examining food products and supplies for quality and quantity, and placing in dry storage, refrigerator, cooler and/or freezer to ensure food safety.
  • Food production including weekly menu planning and preparation according to the daily meal census, reading and adjusting recipes; utilize food preparation tools, equipment and appliances in a safe, sanitary method; weigh, measure, mix, bake, and cook ingredients; apply professional knowledge of nutrition and dietary needs of older adult population; minimize waste; and ensure best practices to comply with Food and Beverage License requirements.
  • Ensure safe food handling skills and practices are monitored and documented properly
  • Meet mealtime schedule and appropriate portion control for elderly population while plating meal attractively and maintaining high quality food standards.
  • Listen and respond appropriately to residents and guests complaints, concerns, and compliments. Keep Administrator informed of customer satisfaction concerns and practices.
  • Maintain clean, organized and sanitary work and food service areas
  • Properly dispose of trash, recyclables, plastic, and cardboard
Requirements
  • Proven working experience as a cook / chef
  • Current certified food manager certificate
  • Ability to understand and communicate using food service vocabulary
  • Familiarity with basic elder nutrition and dietary needs
  • Proficiency in English
  • Basic knowledge and capability of using technology for recording purposes
  • Caring and compassionate personality
  • Valid driver’s license
  • High school degree

Job Types: Full-Time

Pay: $20 – $25 /hour. Determined upon experience, skills, education, and training.
